The rectangular shape calls to mind an artist's tableau or canvas, and reproduces one masterpieces by Claude Monet.
The obverse of the coin depicts a fragment of the work entitled "Woman with an Umbrella", which was completed by the artist in 1886, produced using the pad printing technique. In the left a portrait of Claude Monet. Next to it, to the right an inscription: "1840-1925" (the artist's birth and death dates).
The reverse shows the likeness of Monet himself and a fragment of one of his other paintings, "The Japanese Bridge", completed in 1899.
