The term "Wendigo" originates from an Algonquian folklore and refers to a mythical creature or monster believed to possess supernatural powers. In various Native American traditions, the Wendigo is viewed as a symbol of greed, excess, and the destructive nature of human desires. It is often described as a malevolent, cannibalistic spirit or monster that is associated with winter, famine, and greed. On the reverse, the inscription "2024" - the year of issue and "ONE DOLLAR" - the face value. The obverse of the coin features a bald eagle and a native man with a falcon on his arm. All around the obverse, the inscriptions: "MESA GRANDE SOVEREIGN NATION" - the issuing nation.
