FLYING SCOTSMAN 100th Anniversary Silver Coin 2 Pounds United Kingdom 2023

The reverse of the coin depicts the "Flying Scotsman", the most famous steam locomotive. It's still in use today but, in the past, the locomotive had a significant impact for the british economy, the train traveled from London to Newcastle in just 8 hours in the 1901! Nowadays the locomotive had been upgraded and does the same journey in half the time. On the reverse of the coin, the inscriptions: "FLYING SCOTSMAN LNER 4472" – the name of the coin and of the locomotive and "1923 – 2023" – the anniversary of the "LNER" company acquisition of the locomotive. The obverse of the coin features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III and the inscriptions: "CHARLES III" – the name of the King, "D·G·REX·F·D" – the Latin acronym that stands for: Dei Gratia Rex Fidei Defensor, "2 POUNDS" – the face value and "2023" – the year of issue.
