MONARCH CATERPILLAR Little Creatures Venetian Glass Murano 1 Oz Silver Coin 20$ Canada 2018

This coin's reverse design is punctuated by a vivid Murano glass monarch caterpillar that was handcrafted by master glassmakers Bernardino and Giorgio Vio, in Murano, Italy; its yellow, black and white stripes are the tell-tale sign it is a monarch larva. The glass monarch caterpillar is poised on the leaf of a swamp milkweed plant designed by Canadian artist Maurice Gervais that has been selectively coloured to showcase the plant's long leaves, and its clusters of pink flowers to best effect. On top of the reverse, the inscriptions: "20 DOLLARS" – the face value and "2018" – the year of issue. On the bottom, the inscription: "CANADA" – the issuing country. The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: "D·G·REGINA" – Dei Gratia Regina and "ELIZABETH II" – the name of the Queen.
