A miniature wood canoe laser-etched for remarkable realism and 3D effect dominates this design by Canadian artist Margaret Best. In the distance, a rocky shoreline with dense vegetation has been meticulously enhanced with selective colour while a twig of coloured maple leaves highlights the design's Canadian roots. In the foreground, two canoe paddles rest against the rocks of a small sandy niche that has provided the perfect spot to come ashore. On top of the reverse, the inscription: "CANADA" – the issue country. On the left, the inscription: "2017" – the year of issue. On the bottom, the inscription: "20 DOLLARS" – the face value. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II" – the name of the Queen and "D · G · REGINA" – Dei Gratia Regina.
