More info

The poodle is a dog breed of Egyptian origin. In ancient times, thanks to his sense of smell and his predisposition to be in the water or in front of a palace, the tramp was used in the hunt for ducks as a dog to bring back into the water: his French name "caniche" derives in fact from "canard" (which means precisely "duck") or chien canne (cane dog); in German ("Pudel") and English ("poodle") the name comes from the archaic German "pudeln" which literally means "throw yourself into the water".

Contrary to its ancient use, the bum is now placed in the ninth group of the classification FCI (Federation cynologique internationale), ie in the category of pets.

The reverse of the coin features a portrayal of a brown miniature poodle puppy in the pounce position, ready for play, amid field flowers. On top of the reverse, the inscription: “POODLE” – the name of the coin. The obverse of the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: “QUEEN ELIZABETH II” – the name of the Queen, “50 CENTS” – the face value, “TUVALU” - the issuing country, “2018” – the issue year and “1/2oz 9999 Ag” – the weight of the coin and the fineness of the Silver.
