More info

Australia’s legendary sporting success in the pool has been overseen for 100 years by the peak body known today as Swimming Australia Ltd. Under its auspices, Australia played a pioneering role in the sport of swimming and has gone on to produce a cavalcade of great champions and Olympic gold medallists. Currently with almost 100,000 members and more than 1,100 swimming clubs nationwide.

The coin’s reverse depicts Swimming Australia’s official ‘100 years of excellence’ logo and a freestyle swimmer. The water, including splashes cleverly composed of silhouetted swimming figures, is portrayed in colour. Also incorporated in the design is The Perth Mint’s historic ‘P’ mintmark. Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin bears the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.
