The reverse of the coin depicts Al Capone, an American gangster and businessman who became notorious during the Prohibition era for his involvement in organized crime. He was born on January 17, 1899, in Brooklyn, New York. Capone rose to prominence as the leader of the Chicago Outfit, a crime syndicate that specialized in smuggling and bootlegging alcohol. The obverse of the coin shows the Coat of Arms of the Congo, along with the inscriptions: "REPUBLIQUE DU CONGO" - the issuing country, "100 FRANCS CFA" - the face value.
