The reverse of the coin depicts a copperband butterflyfish, a clownfish and coral representative of the beauty of Australia's underwater world. As a special feature, a real saltwater pearl was integrated into the motive. The design also features the inscription: "GREAT BARRIER REEF" – the name of the coin.
