Description

The reverse of the coin is an incredible concave representation of the Western Hemisphere as depicted on the richly-decorated map, a work of art from the great Age of Discovery by English cartographer John Speed. All around the reverse, the inscriptions: "1626 A NEW AND ACCVRAT MAP OF THE WORLD" – the name of the coin, "COLUMBUS", "DRAKE", "CANDISH" and "MAGELLAN" - the names of famous discoverers. The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II" – the name of the Queen, "AUSTRALIA" – the issue country, "2018" – the year of issue and "100 DOLLARS" – the face value.
