The reverse of the coin features an image of a Brown Kiwi in a burrow with two eggs. The kiwi is surrounded by engraved illustrations of native foliage, with mirror polish on the lower half of the coin. On the reverse, the inscriptions: "BROWN KIWI APTERYX MANTELLI" - the name of the coin and the bird and "$2" - the face value. The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: "NEW ZEALAND" - the country of issue, ".999 Ag 2 oz" - the fineness of the Silver and the weight of the coin, "ELIZABETH II" - the name of the Queen and "2021" - the year of issue.
