MAUI AND THE FIRST DOG Irawaru Tekau Tara Set 2 Gold Coins 10$ New Zealand 2020

The reverse of the first coin in this set depicts an enraged Māui using his divine powers to transform his brother-in-law into a beast – the first dog of New Zealand. The Reverse of the second coin shows a forlorn Irawaru transformed into a dog, and his wife, Māui's sister Hinauri, crying at the loss of her husband. Both coins are embellished with unique koru designs. On top of the reverse of both coins, the inscription: "TEKAU TARA" and on the bottom, the inscription: "TEN DOLLARS" – the face value. The obverse of both coins depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II" – the name of the Queen, "NEW ZEALAND" – the issue country and "2020" – the year of issue.
