The reverse of this peculiar oval coin depicts the stylized body of the short-eared owl, a medium-sized owl named for its distinct short ear tufts, which are not actually ears but rather feathers that stick up on the top of its head! Adorned with Diamond inserts to mimic its intense gaze, this coin has an extraordinary design. On the obverse, the Effigy of King Charles III, along with the inscriptions: "CHARLES III" - the King, "NIUE" - the year of the issue, "TWO DOLLARS" - the face value and "2024" - the year of issue.
