The reverse of the coin presents the wonderful coloured image of the famous painting "Irises", one of several paintings of irises by the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh, and one of a series of paintings he made at the Saint Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, in the last year before his death in 1890. The obverse of the coin features the Public Seal of Niue, along with the inscriptions: "2023" – the year of issue and "2 DOLLARS" – the face value.
