The reverse of the coin features the wonderful high relief image of Cecil the Lion running freely in the open savannah. On top of the reverse, the inscription: "CECIL THE LION" – the name of the coin. The obverse of the coin features a lion and an elephant, probably the two most hunted animals of Africa and a hand with the inscription: "STOP", referring to poaching. The obverse also features the inscriptions: "2000 FRANCS CFA" – the face value, "REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN" – the issuing country and "2018" – the year of issue.
