The reverse of the coin depicts Thales of Miletus, the first known Greek matematician and philosophers and astronomers, as well as one of the seven sages of antiquity. On the reverse, in Greek the inscriptions: "ΦΑΛΗΣ Ο ΜΗΛΗΣΙΟΣ 624-540 ΠΧ" - which translates to "Phales of Miletus 624-540 BC." The obverse of the coin shows the Coat of Arms of Greece. On the obverse, the inscriptions: "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΉ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΊΑ" - the issuing country and "10 ΕΥΡΩ" - the face value.
