Posted on2 Years ago 3732

Hello friends! Ilaria here, welcome back to Power Coin.

I have a question for you: how much do you know about Egyptian culture?

I am very fascinated by everything that is Egyptian and I wish I knew more about Egyptian ancient history and traditions.

For this reason, when the coin “Scarab” by CIT arrived at Power Coin, I was curious to know what it represents and what the symbols on it mean.

Let’s discover it together!

SCARAB AND AMON-RA

The coin is shaped as a Scarab. Do you know why the scarab was so important in Egyptian culture? It represented renewal and rebirth and was associated with Amon-Ra, the god of Sun.

Are you wondering why?

Scarabs create and roll balls of dung in which they lay their eggs; this behaviour resembles the progression of the sun through the sky. Moreover, Egyptians thought that Amon-Ra would come back to life at every sunrise in the form of a winged scarab, bringing life and light to the world.

SCARAB: THE REVERSE

This incredible 1 Oz Silver coin has a beautiful High Relief, thanks to Smartminting technology and is enriched by a shiny Swarovski Crystal insert. Although it is a small coin (18x27 mm), it has a lot of details and symbols on it.

Not only this coin celebrates the Scarab, a very important symbol in ancient Egypt, it is also dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Tutankhamen tomb opening.

The reverse of the coin features the name of the Pharaoh in hieroglyphics, found on his throne discovered about a century ago.

SCARAB: THE OBVERSE

The obverse of the coin presents a lot of symbols as well. On the left, the eye of Amon-Ra, the god of Sun; on the right, the Ankh or Key of Life, the Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol used to represent the word for “Life”. At the top of the obverse, Amon-Ra is depicted as a wing scarab, moving through the sky and bringing life and light.

The coin has a face value of 5$ and features the Coat of Arms of Palau on the obverse. It comes in a black case that can also be used to display the coin, along with the Certitifcate of Authenticity.

"Scarab" has a limited mintage of only 1.500 pieces!

The launch price is 169.95 € and it is available on Power Coin website!

Stay tuned and remember: Collect, Invest, Enjoy!
