GODS OF OLYMPUS REVIEW - 5 Oz Silver Coin - Cook Islands 2017

Hi dears, it’s Chiara, and welcome or welcome back to Power Coin’s Blog!
How are you? I hope that 2018 has started in the best possible way for you and that it will be a perfect year for your coin collection!
So, why not start this wonderful year with this new astonishing Silver Coin that will leave you speechless: Gods of Olympus.

Olympus

Who were the Olympians Gods?

In ancient Greek religion and mythology, the thirteen Olympians Gods were called 'Olympians' because they were considered to reside on Mount Olympus and they presided over every aspect of human life.
Hades was sometimes included as part of the thirteen Olympians, although in general he was excluded because his realm was far away from Olympus in the underworld.

The reverse

This 5 ounces Silver Coin is really impressive because it depicts all the Olympians Gods on its reverse with incredible details so we can perfectly distinguish every god as Hermes, Zeus, Poseidon, Ares, Athena, Aphrodite, Hera and so on.
On the upper part of the background, we find some stylized clouds realized with the typical ancient Greek technique and also some elements of the Greek Architecture, whereas on the bottom part there is this long drape with the inscription “GODS OF OLYMPUS”, the name of the coin, engraved on it.
I really love the way the gods are depicted: each one of them has a unique pose and, thanks to the amazing Antique Finish quality adopted for the realization of this coin, there is a great sense of perspective in it.

Gods of Olympus Reverse
Gods of Olympus Obverse

The obverse

Let’s turn around to the obverse, where we find the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley and the inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II”, the name of the Queen, “COOK ISLANDS”, the issuing country, “FIVE DOLLARS”, the face value, “2017”, the year of issue and “5 OZ 999”, the weight of the coin and the purity of the silver.
This silver coin has an extremely limited mintage of only 500 pieces worldwide and in my opinion this a real masterpiece, I mean, all the Olympian gods in a hand! It's incredible, right?

We will talk soon and remember: Collect, Invest, Enjoy!
