The reverse of the coin shows an amazing design featuring a revered figure in Mahayana Buddhism, particularly in East Asia. The Bodhisattva is also known as Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit and Guan Shi Yin in Chinese. On the obverse of the coin, the Chinese characters of the Guan Yin Pu Sa Sutra, a Buddhist sutra, often recited as a means of invoking the compassion of Guan Yin and seeking protection and blessings.
