PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG MAN By Raphael 2 Oz Silver Coin 10000 Francs Chad 2023

The reverse side of the coin features a reproduction of "The Portrait of a Young Man" by Raphael painted between 1513 to 1514. The painting is famous for being stolen, and subsequently lost, by the Germans during WWII. The obverse of the coin focuses on a detail of the painting and depicts the black and white version of the young man. The obverse also features the Coat of Arms of Chad and the inscriptions: "REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD" – the country of issue, "2023" – the year of issue, "10000 FRANCS CFA" – the face value and "PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG MAN" – the name of the coin. The coin is minted with a new minting technique called "Bi-Metal Max", combining 33.5 Oz of Copper as a base with a top layer of 2 Oz of Silver, resulting in a High Relief.
