The reverse of the coin depicts a beautiful image of a Phoenix, associated with the sun, which comes to life from the ashes of its predecessor. Some legends say that he dies in a spectacle of fire and combustion, others that he simply dies and decomposes before being reborn. The 3 pieces of fire opal gemstone embellish the coin that seems to be wrapped in flames. Around the right side of the reverse, the inscriptions: "PHOENIX"- the name of the coin, "2019" - the year of issue and "1OZ AG 0,999" - the weight and the fineness of the coin. The obverse of the coin depicts the Republic of Ghana Coat of Arms and the inscriptions: "REPUBLIC OF GHANA" - the issuing country and "5 CEDIS" - the face value.
