More info

The gray wolf or grey wolf (Canis lupus), also known as the timber wolf or western wolf, is a canine native to the wilderness and remote areas of Eurasia and North America. It is the largest extant member of its family, with males averaging 43–45 kg (95–99 lb) and females 36–38.5 kg (79–85 lb). Like the red wolf, it is distinguished from other Canis species by its larger size and less pointed features, particularly on the ears and muzzle. Its winter fur is long and bushy and predominantly a mottled gray in color, although nearly pure white, red, and brown to black also occur. As of 2005, 37 subspecies of C. lupus are recognised by MSW3.

The reverse of the coin depicts a close up of a wonderful wolf beautifully realized and its footprint. On top of the reverse the inscriptions “PREDATORS” – the name of the series and “CANIS LUPUS” – the name of the coin. On the bottom of the reverse the inscription “.999 FINE SILVER 1 OZ” – the purity and the weight of the Silver. The obverse of the coin depicts the Coat of Arms of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the inscriptions: “REPUBLIQUE DEMOCRATIC DU CONGO” – the issuing country and “20 FRANCS” – the face value.
