The painstaking engraving is complemented by rich, vibrant colour applied through the sheer effect colourization technique, resulting in colour that glitters under light, just as a traditional glass ornament would! Each coin boasts unique surface qualities that were achieved through the remarkable artistry and craftsmanship of the Royal Canadian Mint’s engravers. The raised scroll pattern brings added depth to the centre pattern, with an overall three-dimensional effect that evokes the spherical dimensions of a classic glass ornament.

The reverse design features the timeless beauty of a stylized, circular holiday ornament; produced in ultra high relief, the quadruple-struck design features a remarkable depth and dimension that evoke the look and feel of the spherical shaped ornaments. Set against a festive-coloured red background, meticulously detailed swirls form a scroll pattern that surrounds the deeply indented pointed petals of a stylized blossom. Tiny dots add a magical raised quality, as they seem to radiate from the dotted centre and outward through each of the indented petals of alternating sizes; eight orange-coloured petals elegantly complement the intricate artwork, as they lie ensconced within scrolls along the edge of the image field.
