Marilyn Monroe, one of my favorite personalities of the past, said that “Diamonds are a girl's best friend! … and it’s probably true. But what would she have said in front of the Dresden, the largest green diamond in the world? She would of gone crazy! I’m now going to introduce you to this amazing Silver Coin that celebrates this stunning diamond: DRESDEN GREEN DIAMOND.

How much is the Dresden Green Diamond worth?

The Dresden Green Diamond, also known as “Dresden Green”, is a 41 carats (8.2 g) natural green diamond, which probably originated in the Kollur mine in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. The Dresden Green is a rare Type IIa, with a clarity of VS1 and it is said to be potentially internally flawless, if slightly recut.
It is named after Dresden, the capital of Saxony, Germany where it has been on display for most of the last two centuries. Today, the diamond is shown in the “New Green Vault” at Dresden Castle.

This beautiful 2 Oz Silver coin is the third release in the “Most Famous Diamonds” series and, as I said before, it is dedicated to the largest green diamond in the world the Dresden Green Diamond.

The Reverse

I know perfectly what is the first thing that attracts your attention, this beautiful green crystal representing the Dresden Green Diamond in the center of the coin. The reverse also depicts the King Augustus III of Poland, the owner of the Dresden Green Diamond that is represented on the middle of the coin by a beautiful green crystal. On top of the reverse, the inscriptions: “MOST FAMOUS DIAMONDS” – the name of the series and “DRESDEN GREEN DIAMOND” – the name of the coin. On the bottom, the inscription: “40.7 CARATS” – the weight of the original diamond. On the left, the inscription: “2017” – the year of issue.		 Dresden Reverse

The Obverse

The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II” – the name of the Queen, “COOK ISLANDS” – the issuing country and “10 DOLLARS” – the face value.

This Coin has a Proof Quality and a limited mintage of only 999 pieces worldwide! Sounds good, right?
