The reverse of the coin depicts the beautiful and detailed image of a burning Lion. All around the reverse of the coin, the inscriptions: "SOUTH AFRICA" – the issuing country, "BIG FIVE" – the name of the series and "2022" – the year of issue. The obverse of the coin features the image of an half of Lion's face mirrored and the centre, inscriptions: "FIVE RAND" – the face value, "1 OZ" – the weight of the coin, and "Ag 999.9" – the fineness of the Silver. This coin is no longer legal tender, as it is altered version of an original "legal tender" coin, enhanced by a private Mint in Germany, which is not related in any way to South African Mint.
