The reverse of the coin has a beautiful image of a vessel sailing the sea during a storm. On the reverse of the coin the inscriptions: "FERNÃO DE MAGALHÃES" – the name of the coin and "CONCLUSÃO POR ELCANO 1522". The obverse of the coin depicts a stylized image symbolizing the voyage and the the inscriptions: "REPÙBLICA PORTUGUESA 2022" - the country and the year of the issue, "7.5 €" - the face value and "CIRCUM-NAVEGAÇÃO 1519 – 1522".
