Description
The reverse of this extraordinary 2 Oz shaped Silver coin reproduces the unmistakable form of the M1911A1 pistol – an eternal symbol of American military strength. One of the most intense moments of General George S. Patton Jr.'s career comes to life here: the Battle of the Bulge. On the slide, M3 Stuart tanks, M10 Tank Destroyers, and armored columns advance through the frozen terrain, capturing the brutal force of the winter offensive. Engraved into the metal is Patton's immortal quote: "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived." The grip shows his portrait in deep relief, flanked by maps of wartime Europe – a mosaic of strategy, determination, and forward momentum, just like his military campaigns. The obverse pays tribute to the man behind the legend. General Patton reappears: iconic helmet, four stars, a proud gaze. A 48-star American flag frames the scene, together with his engraved signature and additional operational maps. On the slide appears his battle nickname: OLD BLOOD AND GUTS – the mark of a fierce and respected leader. The grip features the monogram GSP, just like the personalized pistols Patton carried. Ornate scrollwork and detailed engravings cover the piece from muzzle to hammer, bringing each detail to life with character and intensity.
