Nagoya Castle Golden Shachihoko Statues:
Nagoya Castle, originally built in 1610-14 by Tokugawa Ieyasu. The five-story donjon was destroyed during World War II but has since been reconstructed in 1959, and replica of its famous pair of golden Shachihoko (dolphin-like sea creatures) Statues, almost 3 meters high, restored on the top of the castle also in 1959.

Rabbit-ear Iris:
Grow wild in moist places in various parts of Japan. It reaches a height of 20-70 centimeters. The leaves are sword-shaped or broad and linear. Early in summer two or three dark bluish purple flowers open at the top of the stem. The flowers consist of wide drooping outer petals, yellow at the center bottom, and erect inner petals. Kozutuminishiike Pond in Kariya City of Aichi Prefecture is one of the three major homes of Kakitubata in Japan, designated as the natural monument of Japan.

Atsumi Peninsula:
Located in southern Aichi Prefecture. This long narrow stretch of land extends about 10 km east to west. The Koijigahama beach, located at the tip of the peninsula has about 1 km long beautiful sand beach. The Omotehama coast is a spawning region of loggerhead (sea) turtles, listed on Red List of the Ministry of Environment, Japan.

To mark the 60th Anniversary of Enforcement of the Local Autonomy Law, the Japan Mint launched "Japan 47 Prefectures Coin Program" in 2008. In this program, will be issued silver colorized coins of 47 prefectures in Japan for several years (an 8-year series). Obverse is each prefecture's own design.
