Appearance: Grey-brown kangaroo-like marsupial with yellow-striped tail, white underside, yellow forearms and yellow feet.
Habitat: Rock crevices and caves in semi-arid country from South Australia to south-west Queensland.
Diet: Feeds in the cool of dusk and early morning on native grasses, plants and bark.

Interesting Rock Wallaby Facts:
With thick, rough pads of skin on its feet to prevent slipping, this wallaby can climb up sloping tree trunks. When the Rock Wallaby senses danger it will stomp the ground with its hind legs as a warning to others.

In 2010 the Royal Australian Mint released the first of the $1 silver proof coins featuring a lone kangaroo against the backdrop of a setting sun. This is one of the most internationally recognised and highly acclaimed coin designs by world renowned sculptor Wojciech Pietranik produced by the Royal Australian Mint. The reverse design captures the spirit of a quintessentially Australian icon the Kangaroo. The obverse features Ian Rank Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, unusually accompanied by the coin’s $1 denomination. The coin is produced in over 6 grams of fine silver and handsomely housed in a black wooden case which highlights the stunning proof finish when opened for viewing. Themed outer packaging adds the perfect finishing touch.
