The coin'’s reverse depicts a snake curled around a tree branch which has been gilded in 24-carat gold. The design includes the Chinese character for 'snake' and the inscription 'Year of the Snake'. The Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark is also featured on the reverse. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2013 year-date are shown on the coin's obverse. The Year of the Snake Gilded Edition coin is housed in a presentation case and custom-designed shipper, accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
