Three Wise Monkeys
The symbol of the Three Wise Monkeys is associated with Japan, but probably came from China. The exact origin of the allegory is to date not clearly documented.
See no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil is a component of a Buddhist teaching and part of a popular belief in the land of the rising sun. Thereby Mizaru covers his eyes, Kikazaru his ears and Iwazaru his mouth.
