The Peterhof Palace is a series of palaces and gardens located in Petergof, Saint Petersburg, Russia, laid out on the orders of Peter the Great. These palaces and gardens are sometimes referred as the “Russian Versailles”. The palace-ensemble along with the city center is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The dominant natural feature of Peterhof is a sixteen-metre-high bluff lying less than a hundred metres from the shore. The so-called Lower Gardens (Nizhny Sad), at 1.02 km² comprising the better part of Peterhof's land area, are confined between this bluff and the shore, stretching east and west for roughly 200 metres. The majority of Peterhof's fountains are contained here, as are several small palaces and outbuildings. East of the Lower Gardens lies the Alexandria Park with 19th-century Gothic Revival structures such as the Kapella.
The reverse of the coin depicts the labyrinth in Lower Garden in Peterhof (Russia) with a fountain in the centre and the beautiful Palace on the background. The reverse also depicts two statues, on the left of Peter the Great and on the right of Anna Ioannovna. On the centre of the coin, the inscription: “RUSSIAN LABYRINTH” – the name of the coin. On the bottom of the reverse, the inscription: “Ag 925” – the fineness of the Silver. The obverse of the coin presents an intricate design of a labyrinth and on the top, the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Macedonia. Underneath the Coat of Arms, the inscription: “2017” – the year of issue. On the bottom of the obverse, the inscription: “PER ASPERA AD ASTRA”.
